Response to in the Eye of the Beholder article

I recently read an article about beauty throughout the world and how western civilization has effected it. It opens by talking about size and how in Nigeria, being plump is considered a sign of beauty. Another interesting thing is that the more plain or normal someones face is, the more beautiful they are usually considered. I find it interesting that beauty is the act of being extra ordinary instead of extraordinary. A little joke to lighten the mood but I digress. Another thing that I thought was interesting or poetic was a comment someone wrote.

Beauty is imperfection. Imperfection is character. Character is individuality. Individuality is what you need to fall in Love. And someone you can fall in love with has the truest beauty of all.
Luke Tennant, England

Very poetic. While not wholly related to the topic, It could be interpreted as meaning that trying to become beautiful actually makes you less beautiful. Quite an interesting prospect. However, because Beauty is in the Eye of the Beholder, I will not say that the above phrase is universally true.
This was a fairly interesting article from BBC and I think it should be read by whoever has read this post.
